for "the nation" issue, i wanted to examine the concept of "america" from all angles. we started out the issue with 5 2-page spreads featuring photos and poetry submitted by our readers, with another dozen photos with poetry in the middle of the issue.

after organizing all of the readers' submissions, i took the dusty/bent/bad-skin photos sent in by the teenage readers, thoroughly cleaned them up and worked them into 2-page layouts, contradicting their angry/sad/lonely poetry with the famous preamble to the constitution of the united states.
