matthew limon is a teen unfairly prosecuted for having consentual gay sex with another teen—the injustice being that if he were straight, he wouldn't be in jail. i interviewed him while he was serving his 3rd year of a 17-year sentence.
i negotiated with his lawyers at the aclu to set up a phone interview with matthew in prision in kansas. the timing of the interview couldn't have been better—it came days after the united states supreme court ruled that states are not allowed to have laws which discriminate on the basis of gender or sexual orientation.
