my print/publishing experience goes back to highschool yearbook, through university to, most recently serving as editor for xy magazine for two years. xy is a popular american magazine, focussed on gay youth and culture [coming out issues, first loves, high school bullies, activism] with a circulation of around 100,000 worldwide.
i helped to restructure the magazine's operations and optimize our editorial processes, including a major redesign of the magazine's layout and style, hiring and training staff and contributors, moving to a fully digital proofing/printing system, and even two office moves. i brought in a more diverse [racially, age-wise] group of contributors, and also freshened up the cultural angle of the magazine, revamping the film, music and internet coverage.
